What is Dyslexia?

“Dyslexia is characterized by difficulties with accurate and / or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading comprehension and reduced reading experience that can impede growth of vocabulary and background knowledge.” - The International Dyslexia Association

Can you test for Dyslexia?

Although a child psychologist is the only person who can clinically diagnose a child as Dyslexic, Tracy is able to screen for possible signs of Dyslexia, as well produce desired results with a child showing signs of Dyslexia.

Can You Help Children with Signs of Dyslexia?

Tracy utilizes researched based techniques and computer programs that stimulate and develops the brain, enhancing cognitive processing speed, visual recognition, spelling, speech to sound and language processing. A doctoral student from the University of Northern Colorado wrote a dissertation studying the efficacy of the of the computer program Tracy uses with students showing signs of Dyslexia. The study showed all participating students gained an increase in oral reading fluency. The students also maintained their gains after six weeks of not using the program. Computer programs that use similar techniques to the programs used in Tracy’s online tutoring, have also been effective in stimulating and developing the brain to enhance performance, producing desired results in students with other learning disabilities such as ADD/ADHD, Language Processing Disorder, and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
